A little old lady came in by ambulance after falling at church and hitting her head. She said she had her hands up in the air and was praying, and the spirit took her and she fell backward, lacerating her scalp.
She said this happened a lot to her (and other people) at her church--they would be "slain by the spirit." The PA said he understood, the same thing would happen when his wife's family went to church.
"Yes," the lady said, "I love to go visit Jesus!"
I said I didn't think I would enjoy visiting Jesus if every time I came into his house he knocked me down.

My boyfriend's elderly father was in the ER recently (first medical care since the 50's - no joke) for syncopal episodes. They were doing cardiac enzyme tests, so lots of blood was being taken. Neither of his parents have much experience with doctors or the medical establishment, believe it or not. And they determined that, since this was a "teaching hospital," EVERYONE who worked there was a student and the reason so much blood was being taken was so they could PLAY with it. *sigh* That was only ONE of their interpretations. Nothing I said made any difference. As a nursing student, it was a very frustrating experience. I sent thank you cards and goodie baskets to the staff after he was discharged. LOL

Weird. Many of them have already brain injury if their heads always hits the floor. Anyway, I respect the beliefs of different people as well as patients, eh.
