I hate this fucking job. It eats you alive. What other job can you have where you can be the best at what you do and it's still not good enough? Where no matter what you do, you're wrong? Where even if you're doing exactly what you're supposed to do, and you get a good outcome, if someone (who doesn't understand shit about what's going on) gets upset because what you did wasn't what THEY think you should do, YOU'RE the one who gets raked over the coals and looks like the "bad nurse."
I swear to GOD if something doesn't change around here I'm leaving this unsafe shithole hospital and I'll go work in endoscopy or something, holding people's hands as they wake up from their propofol naps and giving them apple juice.
I don't need this fucking shit.

Most of the fun of the ED, but we also get to carry patients on the stairs. ;-)
If you go to endoscopy, isn't it just jumping out of the metaphorical feces in to the literal feces.
Try PACU. It's the same flow (patient in, patient out) but 1 or 2 at a time, lots of critical care skills, but you're not RUNNING!! or dealing with DRUNKS!! Its a great transition and ER nurses do very well in PACU.
You can go teach - double the work load, but same stress or less. And hey you can have 30 - 45 faces, smiling, in front of you!
Im a med surg RN. I HATE my job. HATE HATE HATE HATE it. I need to do someothing new and fast. I am burnt out! Doctors are pompous assholes, other nurses are back stabbing bitches and the patients think they are staying at the fucking marriot!!! Its a hospital, not a fucking hotel!!!! Listen up all you needy,bitchy pain in the ass patients, your nurses hate you!!!!!!! quit being an asshole!!!!God I gotta do somehting else.Wasted a ton of money on school, for this.
