Why? Why would ANYONE watch this?

In an attempt to procrastinate instead of cleaning out the vacuum cleaner or starting my new online class, I was just flicking through the channels and happened upon VH1's "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew."

I can't even stand it for one minute. I have NO CLUE why anyone would want to watch this. Good lord, imagine working there? Dealing with addicts is hard enough--imagine dealing with washed-up celebrity addicts who are all extra-dramatic, getting off on dancing for the camera like idiots? How can having cameras in a rehab be therapeutic in any way?

Oh my god, that Dr. Drew is sitting there, talking to a patient, with a stethoscope around his neck. I know he's an actual MD, but I don't know ANY doctor who does psychotherapy with a stethoscope dangling off of him.

Porn stars and washed-up actors and actresses and rock stars all begging for attention and "something to calm me down" and getting off on draping themselves on the floor and shoving their fingers down their throats to induce retching so they can get some kind of medication, ANY KIND OF MEDS!!!!!!

I can't even STAND IT. It's too much like being at work.

I'm a bit ashamed to say I watch Celebrity Rehab. I have a few justifications (the late hour, nothing else on, etc) but still there is shame in admitting i watch it.

The finger down the throat scene seemed a bit over the top to me too. Ok, all the scenes seem a bit over the top but that one especially. Ya think she'd done that before considering she had her fingers so far down her throat she had to be massaging her spleen and was reaming her throat like a plumber reams a clogged pipe and still couldn't throw up. Just watching it made me gag a little.

Definitely one of those shows you watch and think "Maybe being a 'regular person' ain't so bad"

I posted alittle bit about the celebrity rehab show on my blog too..I find it very depressing, I'm glad I'm poor and have no time to myself to do anything, but work, sleep and run the kids around!

Love your blog!

I watch occasionally because of what it is....entertainment.

Besides, I'm waiting for Lindsay Lohan to be a regular along with Kenickie.

I've watched it in the past, but it annoys me to see a bunch of narcissistic, washed up celebs acting like they're gaining something from rehab. Maybe that's because what passes for therapy is pretty shallow and meaningless. I think this is a publicity stunt for all involved.

I totally love the show, I think I have a bit of a crush on Dr. Drew, and the "celebs" are hilarious! But I hear you on the stethoscope, not just wearing it, but how he wears it seems very phallic to me. My husband also commented on the fingers down the throat moment, in that it seemed to have no effect at all.

I watch it. It's like a train wreck, I want to look away but can't...I will admit that there are a couple of people on there who get on my last nerve...that Jeff Conway eejit has to be the most narcissistic, histrionic jackass I've ever seen. Gary Busey is just plain sad to watch, and Steven Adler is....well, pathetic.

Even I thought the fingers down the throat scene was way over the top, tho.

Love your blog!

If I ever get really depressed and decide to off myself, I might start watching that show. My life won't seem so bad after all...
