I'm just saying, be prepared to lose a good chunk of time when you read the twilight series. They're SO addicting!
And also, you actually worked on the Star Wars books?! I am more than a little jealous, and not at all ashamed to admit that I have bags upon bags of those books in a closet at my parents house. Waiting until I have a proper bookshelf to display them in all their glory.
How about some bodice-rippers? Or for a touch of both the tropical AND sarcastic, try anything written by Carl Hiaasen. Guaranteed to get you in a beachy mode and have you laughing to yourself as your sandmates move the towel further from you!
ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY! After all, isn't this what life should be all about?
*blink* *blink*
knit?

Shrtsorm: I'm picking up the first two before we leave tomorrow am!
Mojito: I LOVE Carl Hiaasen. I think I've read everything of his except for the last two novels...I'm hoping to get them from the library.
Mike: Yup. I started knitting last month (my mother-in-law showed me) and now I can't stop. Seriously, it's bad. Need any mittens or anything like that?
Go to Knitty. www.knitty.com; they always have great free patterns.
Free knitting patterns site I got from an internet friend:

Uh, if you know how to knit and purl, you can try to make an Unoriginal Hat. You'll just need to pick up some big, f'in cable needles. Hopefully you have some sort of reference book for what to do with double-pointed needles; otherwise, YouTube. Cables are fun to learn and not much more difficult than regular knitting and purling. I made one of these for my best friend.
I did this pattern with US 11s and added an extra purl stich on the end of each row to make it bigger; otherwise, it was way too small.
I just knit a baby hat in the round with K2P2 ribbing while holding two strands of worsted-weight yarn together. That looks sorta cool. It only took about 3 hours. Easy.
Note for the "extra stich", I meant at the end of the pattern which is repeated 4 times per row, so it's 4 extra stiches per row. You can use any ultra-chunky yarn, BTW.
nurse k: thanks! I just got #11 cable needles to start a project (from Knitty.com, thanks Melissa)! And I have some super chunky yarn I can use. Right now I'm sitting on the screened-in porch with a nice G&T, waiting for hubby and stepdaughter to be ready to go get ice cream...
Dude. You know about ravelry.com, right? Right? Free patterns. See what other people did with the yarn you have in your stash. See how they changed patterns for the better. Bitch with other nurses who also knit.
Go. Go now. Is goot.
Ditto on ravelry.com. Awesome is an understatement. Ravelry + medblog reading ... there's nothing better, especially for when you're on holiday.
Because sometimes you need a good vaca-sit.....nutthin wrong with that!
