MY stupidity!

I can't believe that I spaced and didn't take my final exam for my online class last night! I forgot that while assignments are due by midnight SUNDAY, the final is due by midnight SATURDAY.

Oh boy. And in the one class I wasn't acing, either.

Well, let's hope that my last paper got full marks. MAYBE I'll get a B then. I can't believe it.

Well, Cranky Professor would be proud; at least I'm not whining to administration (or my instructor) about it. It's my own fault for not marking it on my calendar anyway.

GACK! I'm mortified.

Ah, I wish I had more self-accountable students like you. I teach Anatomy & Physiology at the college in my town and my students try to pull SO much crap. Last week, one missed our exam (after I'd clearly outlined the syllabus and my attendance policy multiple times) b/c her boyfriend broke up with her and she was going to be 30 minutes late to class. Please.

That said, maybe your professor would be understanding if you take responsibility, and maybe you could get partial credit?

Oooooh, ouuuuch. Been there, done that. It's so freakin' embarrassing.

Anyway, what I'd do is e-mail your instructor and explain - I've done that just saying things along the lines of "I've really enjoyed your class and I don't want you to think that I just bailed on the exam or am going to give you an excuse for why I didn't take it. I screwed up." I've actually had an offer to make up the thing that was missed. Which is a nice bonus, but really, I just don't want them thinking badly of me. Which is probably dumb, as I don't think they really think much about it at all, but I always worry about things like that.

Anyway, might be worth doing on the chance that your prof is the sort to say something like, "Yeah, shit happens, it's a stressful time, maybe we can work something out."
