A few posts ago I stated I couldn't believe someone would actually go to the ER for an ingrown toenail.
Apparently someone was wondering what to do with their own toenail, because my blog came up on a search with those words.
There are a lot of idiots out there who believe that the ED is a place to go for this problem. Like here. Apparently Yahoo is full of dumbasses, like the one who answered the question "How do I care for an ingrown toenail?" with, "Make time and go to the ER screaming that it hurts."

I have to disagree with you. I think its perfectly fine to go to a ER for a ingrown toenail. Generally, people will go in when the pain has become really severe or its not looking really good. My ER has a minor care/fast track section that handles these issues.
To the anon poster above - yes, in certain circumstances it may be appropriate - ie infected, if you have diabetes, or if you are travelling, etc. Of course you should call ahead and make sure fast track is open. Coming in at 3am is NOT APPROPRIATE however. Of course if you just cut you toenails a little longer it would not happen.....

Maybe what they meant was, "Make time to go to your doctor, rather than go to the ER screaming that it hurts."
Awhile back on yahooanswers someone stated that "my doctor told me not to wear my seatbelt because I am pregnant."
They tell each other to go to the ER all the time. Dumbasses.
Perhaps it is appropriate that they are on Yahoo! Here is the Wikipedia description of the yahoos from the satirical novel by Jonathan Swift.

I had a toddler brought in last night by his mother at 3 am because there was sand in his ears! UMMM ok.... So I flushed it out. My question is: why 3am? What were they doing till 3am? Where they bored and decided to wake up their daughter and bring her in. And of course it was the whole family, all 8 cousins, a few nieces and nephews, grandma, grandpa....
