Yes, enjoy one for me. I found you earlier from pixelRN. Love your site. I've got one question. I've been given the chance to take either a critical care course or emergency room course, obviously specializing in either area, which would you prefer? I'm rather going to CCNP. Any advice?
I have no clue what to tell you. If you have an inclination towards ccnp then you should do it.
I didn't start out wanting to be an ER nurse; when I started nursing school, I had visions of becoming an L&D nurse and then a midwife. But then I got interested in med/surg and found L&D not as interesting as I thought (yes, it was very inspiring, and I still have a soft spot for women's health, but OB/GYN wasn't for me). So when I graduated I just went into med/surg. Started working nights in a neuro/medical unit, hated nights, and then noted they had a spot open in ED, with better hours. I figured I'd get all sorts of interesting training there, and so I switched, and now I LOVE IT.
If I went anywhere else, it would be to Critical Care, or PACU. I'd go with your first instinct--if you don't like it later, do something else!
